Tomoki Narukawa is a filmmaker and photographer currently pursuing a double major in Film/Television and Advertising at Boston University. With a passion for human-driven storytelling, Narukawa aims to capture meaningful experiences through a cinematic approach.
Originally from Tokyo and having worked internationally across the United States, Australia, Portugal, and Japan, he brings a global perspective to every project. His creative experience ranges from assisting on documentary features, producing commercials for high-end restaurants, social media campaigns for clothing brands and cafes, and corporate videos.
Narukawa has contributed to projects with production companies such as CineMedia in Sydney, where he assisted on corporate video productions for brands including Komatsu, IAG, TAL Insurance, and Ausgrid, while also editing documentary-style YouTube content for the motorcycle channel BikerTorque. In Hawai‘i, he worked with ID8 as a production assistant and camera operator on the documentary The 100th: Seeds of Aloha, a film honoring the Japanese American soldiers of the 100th Infantry Battalion and 442nd Regimental Combat Team.
Inspired by his experience working on a rice farm in Fukushima, Japan, he is currently developing a documentary film centered on a sustainable Japanese rice-farming technique known as the Aigamo method, where ducks are integrated into rice farming to create a self-sustaining ecosystem. The film focuses on a farmer in Vermont who has adapted this technique, exploring themes of regenerative agriculture and international collaboration.
Driven by a fascination for the natural world and human connection across cultures, Narukawa hopes to create films that connect audiences more deeply with the people and the world around them.
